Summary:

Owners of an AED are required to notify their local EMS agency and perform routine maintenance, testing, provide CPR/AED training every two years for expected users as well as AED use reporting for Good Samaritan protection. Schools, Health Spas and Criminal Dentition facilities are required to have AEDs.

Good Samaritan protection for UNTRAINED users Check 20-13-1305 Pursuant to Ark Code Ann. § 20-13-1305(a), any person who in good faith and without compensation renders emergency care or treatment using an automated external defibrillator is immune from civil liability for any personal injury as a result of the care or treatment or as a result of any act or failure to act in providing or arranging further medical treatment, if the person acts as an ordinary, reasonably prudent person would have acted under the same or similar circumstances.
